Established under Public Act 24 of 1989 (Michigan), the River Rapids District Library officially came into existence on March 9, 2011. Its predecessor was the Chesaning Public Library.
The River Rapids District Library is located at 227 E. Broad St., Chesaning, MI. The River Rapids District Library provides free services to all residents living within the Chesaning township and village boundaries. The library is a member of the. Non-residents may purchase a card.
The library holds over 40,000 materials including over 38,000 books, and 2,000 compact discs and books on and CD.
In total, over 50,000 items were checked out of the library during fiscal year 2009-2010! In addition to these items, thousands of people entered the library to utilize print and electronic reference resources, access the Internet through the library’s fiber-optic connection, enjoy state-of-the-art Wi-fi service, participate in computer and Internet training, view a library exhibit, or attend one of the library’s many events.
